Budding Artist

The top of my fridge has become a "catch all" for things that I want to keep for my kids (birthday cards, stuff from primary, ticket stubs, drawings they have done, etc...) Well today I got the motivation to go through the huge stack that has accumulated in the past year. In that stack I found tons of pictures that Haken has drawn. Haken has always been a little artist ( I guess it comes with the genes...ahem...daddy). There are some days where he doesn't get out a single toy, but has worn down every last crayon in his box so I have to peel the paper down. I actually don't mind having to scrub off all the crayon and marker that ends up on my table because I know he was just trying to create his masterpieces, he never does it on purpose. This kid is happy and content with a white piece of paper and a box of crayons, what more could a mom ask for? I thought I would scan in a few masterpieces to show you how far he has come in the last year. You can see the different stages that he has gone through, and how he has experimented with different things. You can also tell what we did during the month based on what his pictures are. He really is a creative genius. By the way, the titles are straight from him.

* You'll have to excuse the stuff you can see through some of the pictures. Because he goes through so much paper I usually let him draw on the back of my printer scrap paper :)

March 2010 (2 years 9 months)

I think this is the drawing he was doing in the picture up top. See how he lines up every pencil after using it. He gets his perfectionist habits from mommy and his drawing ability from daddy. Good combo I think.

Yes, those "flavor savors" are really supposed to be our noses. This is the first time I have seen him draw real people, or at least distinguishable ones.

And with that "Haken's gallery tour" comes to a close. I am excited to see what he will come up with next. What a creative little kid!

I had to throw in a few pictures from the last year of Haken creating with his Daddy. I think it is so cute that he wants to be just like him. Not a bad person to idolize if you ask me....
